Naturopathic Medicine

For over two decades, Tracey has been at the forefront of integrative healthcare. As a patient advocate she has worked tirelessly to separate health-promoting information from a sea of misinformation. Most of this work has focused along the clinical importance of the gut-brain-microbiome connection, distinguishing between the astonishing promise and the hype, implementing strategies that can help patients in the here-and-now.

As an experienced clinician, Tracey understands that achieving optimal health starts with looking for and understanding the root cause of illness. It is only with that knowledge that we can begin developing a personalized plan through individualized medicine, diet and lifestyle intervention. Tracey started her educational journey in health at Queen’s University where she graduated with an honours degree in sociology, focusing on health promotion and administration. This led to four years working with the Heart and Stroke Foundation before she decided to further her studies at The Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine— graduating in 2001.

Since graduating she has continued to take continuing medical education courses throughout North America, including courses in mind-body medicine offered at Harvard Medical School’s Benson-Henry Institute. These courses have fostered a deep appreciation of rigorous research, and evidence-informed clinical practice. They have also underscored that each patient is a product of unique lived experiences—the gastrointestinal tract and its ecosystem may be central to physical and mental health, but the GI tract is also influenced by the larger ecosystems that surround us.
